Normal operation and charging will lead to some water in the battery being evaporated, which requires frequent replenishment of the battery, before replenishment, first of all, the dirt around the filling port should be cleaned to prevent it from falling into the battery grid, and then the filling port should be opened, add an appropriate amount of distilled water or purified water, do not overfill, otherwise, when the battery is discharged/charged, the electrolyte inside the diesel engine will gush out from the overflow hole of the filling port, resulting in corrosion and damage to the surrounding objects and environment.

Avoid starting the unit at low temperature, the battery capacity will not be able to output normally in low temperature environment, and long-term discharge may cause battery failure. The standby generator set battery should be regularly maintained and charged to the battery, and can be equipped with a floating charger. Tips for diesel generator battery maintenance:

First, check whether the battery is charged properly. If you have a triple power meter, after starting the engine, measure the voltage at the two poles of the battery, which must exceed 13V to be considered normal. If you find that the charging voltage is too low, you need to ask a professional to overhaul the charging system.

If you don't have a three-power meter, you can use the visual method: after the engine starts, open the battery and water cap to see if there are bubbles in each compartment. The normal condition is that bubbles are constantly coming out of the water, and the more oil you add, the more they will rise; If you notice that there is no bubbling, it is likely that there is something wrong with the charging system. Special attention should be paid to the fact that hydrogen gas will be produced during this test, so do not smoke during the test to avoid the risk of explosion and fire.

Second, open the battery and water cap to see if the water level is in the normal position. Generally, there will be upper and lower limit markings on the side of the battery for your reference. If you find that the water level is below the lower mark, you must add distilled water, if you can't get distilled water at once, you can use filtered tap water for emergency. Don't add too much water, the standard is to add it to the middle of the upper and lower reticles.

Third, scrub the outside of the battery with a damp cloth to wipe the dust, oil, white powder and other dirt that is easy to cause leakage on the panel and pile head. In this way, the battery will be scrubbed frequently, and the pile head of the battery will not accumulate white etching powder, and its service life will be relatively long.
