Analysis of Precautions for Conventional Starting of Diesel Engines

A diesel engine is an internal combustion engine that uses diesel as fuel. Diesel engines belong to compression ignition engines, and they are often referred to as Diesel engines after their main inventor, Diesel. The energy released during combustion acts on the top surface of the piston, pushing it and converting it into rotational mechanical work through the connecting rod and crankshaft.

Precautions for regular starting of diesel engine: Disconnect the diesel engine from the transmission or place the gearbox in neutral. Place the parking electromagnet, electrical switch, and mechanical control device in the operating position.

For diesel engines with full range speed controllers, place the accelerator slightly above idle, while for cold state automotive diesel engines with dual pole speed controllers, the accelerator pedal should be fully depressed and released before the starter motor engages.

Attention: To prevent damage to the starting diesel generator set, the engagement time of the starting motor should not exceed 30 seconds at a time, and the interval between two consecutive starts should be 2 minutes.

The diesel engine oil pressure gauge must display a reading within 15 seconds after starting. When starting a diesel engine cold, the speed should be slowly increased to ensure that the bearings receive sufficient lubrication and the oil pressure is stable. Run at idle speed of 1000r/min for 3-5 minutes before gradually increasing the load for operation. It is strictly prohibited to accelerate and load the diesel engine immediately after starting.

Attention: The idle running time of the diesel engine should not be too long, otherwise it may damage the diesel engine. Due to the low temperature of the combustion chamber during idle operation, the fuel cannot be completely burned, resulting in carbon deposition, blockage of the fuel injector holes, and jamming of the piston rings and valves. If the temperature of the cooling water is below 60 ° C, the fuel will also wash away the engine oil on the surface of the cylinder liner and dilute the engine oil in the oil pan, so that all moving parts will not receive proper lubrication.
